TYPES OF LIGHTING:
  • Low key lighting :
-Lighting in which the camera's focus is on the subject, highlights, shadows, dark tones and high contrast 

  • Rambrant lighting:
-Lighting at a 45 degree angle which creates a small triangle on the shadowed side of the subject 

  • Key light or Main light 
-That lights up the subject 

  • Fill light 
-Lighting that fills up the shadow 

  • Rim light:
-Lighting that creates a border near the subject or creates a silhouette of the subject

  • Kicker light:
-Is on the 180 degree of the subject 

  • Motivated light:
-Light that looks natural in the room (eg. using lamps near the subject)

  • Background light:
-Add appropriate colors to the background 

  • Catch light:
-A tiny light in the eye that gives life to the subject 


Lighting hacks:

- Shoot only at the golden hour (6am or 6pm)
- 45 degree or rambrant lighting can be achieved by using a single light or double lights 
- In order to get a cinematic footage, shoot from the shadow side
- Fog from fog machines give texture to the lighting 


Color temperature:

-The color of the light varies from cold to warm
